I am an EMU graduate student and I would like to take graduate course(s) at another Michigan university (MIGS form).
The Michigan Council of Graduate Schools (MIGS) has authorized the use of a form that enables graduate students from one Michigan university to enroll in graduate courses offered by another Michigan university without being fully admitted to that university. See page 2 of form for a list of participating universities.
Complete the MIGS form (see right column under "Download") and obtain your graduate advisor's signature.
Submit the form to the Graduate School in 200 Boone Hall.
The form will be signed and sent to the Graduate School at the other university. A copy will be sent to EMU's Office of Records and Registration.
At the other university, the form will be approved by the course instructor, the department head, and the Graduate School.
That university will send you a letter of acceptance and a student number so you can register.
You will pay tuition and fees of that university (not EMU).
Graduate Assistants would receive tuition scholarship through the Office of Financial Aid for the dollar amount of EMU tuition and fees as if the course had been taken here. Monies or tuition refund would be obtained from your Eagle One card. You are responsible for paying the tuition bill from the other university. Work with the Graduate School to process the tuition scholarship.
When the course has been completed and you want to transfer it to your EMU program of study, official transcripts must be sent to the Office of Admissions. Upon graduation audit, the Office of Records will verify course completion with a B or better grade. The course credit and grade will be added to your EMU graduate GPA.
