I do not have a program of study. How is one developed?
A program of study is a list of the courses you will complete to finish your graduate degree program (certificate, master’s, specialist, or doctoral degree). Without this list, the Office of Records and Registration cannot verify degree completion, in other words YOU CAN NOT GRADUATE.
1. Within the first semester you are on campus, meet with program faculty and your graduate program coordinator or advisor to create a list of:
Program Required / Concentration Courses
Department Elective Courses
Cognate Courses or courses outside the department
2. Each department or program has their own version of a program of study form.
The form will be completed by you and your graduate program coordinator or advisor.
You both sign and date it.
The form is sent to the Office of Records and Registration, 303 Pierce Hall.
3. If future changes need to be made to the program of study, your program coordinator or advisor can email the changes to Becky Kramer in the Office of Records and Registration.
If there have been too many changes, a revised version of the program of study may be signed, dated, and sent.
4. The current program of study should accompany any requests made to the Graduate School for:
Transfer of Credit
Program Time Limit Extension
5. If you are a graduate assistant taking undergraduate curriculum deficiency courses or 400-level courses for graduate credit, then a copy the program of study should be given to the Graduate School. This way tuition scholarships will be quickly processed.
