I received an E grade in a course that I never attended or thought I dropped.
1. Obtain a Petition for Modification or Waiver of the Graduate School Academic and Administrative Policies form (see left column under "Related Links") from:
the Graduate School, 200 Boone Hall or
the Office of Records and Registration, 303 Pierce Hall or
2. Complete the form by:
signing it
indicating you need a retroactive withdraw (no tuition reimbursed) from a specified course taken in a specific semester (include course and CRN numbers).
obtaining the instructor's verification/signature that you never attended the course or early on you indicated your intent to drop the course.
obtaining the department head signature
3. Return form:
to the Graduate School, 200 Boone Hall (fax 734-487-0050)
the semester following course enrollment
4. Remember:
Not showing up for class DOES NOT formally drop or withdraw you from the course.
Merely informing the instructor that you will no long be attending the class DOES NOT formally drop or withdraw you from the course.
ONLY YOU CAN DROP YOU FROM A COURSE. A faculty member can not drop you from a course.
If medical, family, employment or military issues were factors for the withdrawal, provide documentation or explanation with the petition.
